Britain did not capitulate just because of the defeat at Yorktown. France had done everything to force him to disperse his forces . She attacked the British in India, it was valuable colony , the source of the wealth of Pitt
[/*]It had also attacked Malta , Menorca won (which was the great British naval base in the Mediterranean, Malta before ) , besieging Gibraltar was on the verge of falling . The France encircled the British West Indies , and maneuvered for months 60,000 men in Britain, ready to land in Britain virtually emptied of troops . The French ships were cruising , flags flying , off Southampton , causing panic on the London Stock

Great video. Sadly a lost piece of history for many of my countrymen...especially those who are the same age. All i hear is "fuck the french" or "pussies" when in reality we wouldnt even be a country if it werent for their help in the revolutionary war. The west will always be allys to the end, let baigons be baigons.

@Adirondack13 Most of the principles that were put into the constitution were developed by Napoleon and his team of advocates. Now they are used in over 150 countries worldwide.

This wont go over very well but it's all true. Than again, if it wasn't for the British the French would have won the French and Indian War against the colonists, and we'd have revolted against them! They didn't care about our freedom(although their people did) they just wanted to bloody their enemies nose.

@docyoung The colonists at the time were basically british. I think we should accept our british roots, but also accept the fact we played the cards we were dealt and created our own vision of a country, and hopefully capitalize on what our forefathers gave us.

@Adirondack13 Don't forget it was all over taxes anyways. The British imposed new taxes on everyday items all because they went broke defending the colonies from the French and Indians. And this is how we repay them! lol

11,500,000 French born expatriates live in the US and 100,000 American born citizens live in France. Interesting fact there considering Frances total population is 65,350,000. In other words there is no bad relationship with France just what the media tries to imply.

French Military History in a Nutshell
Gallic Wars: Lost. In a war whose ending foreshadows the next 2000 years of French history, France is conquered by of all things, an Italian.
Hundred Years War: Mostly lost, saved at last by a female schizophrenic who inadvertently creates The First Rule of French Warfare - "France's armies are victorious only when not led by a Frenchmen."
Italian Wars: Lost. France becomes the first and only country ever to lose two wars when fighting Italians. More..

@Wankershire UK There have been 53 major wars in Europe
France had been a belligerent in 49 of them; UK 43.
In 185 battles that France had fought over the past 800 years, their armies had won 132 times, lost 43 times and drawn only 10.
Giving the French military the best record of any country in Europe". & it is not by me but the "BBC History" ^^
I add more that France was often alone vs a big coalition of allies or vs several countries, all the opposite of England-Brit More..

The only reason the French helped was to stick their thumb in England's eye.
During the American Civil War, France sided with the Confederacy.
Some friend, France.

An interesting factoid that most are not aware of is that G. Washington's early desires were to become a lofty officer in the British army. This was encouraged by his family as part of his British heritage. How differently things could have turned out!

Even when already knowing it, seeing this here gives me a warm fuzzy.... Even when considering some of the negative stuff between then and now. Hopefully rolling up the NAZIs seems like a fair return on their original investment.
