I looked at it a second and third time: The Hyena does not use it's hind legs for it movement / defense/ escape attempt. I say it was injured at it's spine and therefore not able to move, but it was not asleep. Why would a hyena sleep in such a illuminated place anyways?

Something doesn't seem quite right here. Looks staged to me. Hyenas are not usually found alone out in the open like that especially sleeping considering they are nocturnal animals. It almost seemed like it was drugged or injured not sleeping.
