MUST SEE RAW VIDEO: PORTLAND, MAINE WOMAN RESCUED JUST IN TIME FROM SINKING CAR BY CITIZENS, FIRE & POLICE.
Katie Nelson of Biddeford was having lunch at Benkay on India Street when she saw a car speeding by and then heard a crash. She went outside to see what had happened, and saw 84 year-old Ursula Nixon's car in Portland Harbor.
Nelson wasted no time jumping into the water to help. She climbed onto the car and in the rear window.
"I just remember pulling myself up and and looking in at her and there was water all in the front of the car and she was in the front seat," Nelson told NEWS CENTER. "so I just, I said, 'Hi I'm Katie,' and she's like, 'I don't want to die in here, I'm going to drown.' And I'm like, 'No, no you're not. You're going to grab my hands and we're going to pull you out.'"
One of the other people in the water held Nelson's legs so that she could pull Nixon from the car. Rescue workers then carried Nixon to shore.
Police are still investigating what caused the crash.

WOW!!! She went RIGHT in there, without thinking twice. AMAZING display of heroism. This woman is a real hero and should be acknowledged! Her family and friends must be SO proud of her! And that 84 year old grandma would surely have died without the help.

@Zeitgeist28 This is how all women should be, I hate it when you see women crying and screaming. Really not helping anyone and giving us a bad rep.

Made me relive a crazy moment in my life. Me and a buddy striped bass fishing on the jersey shore and boom oddly enough a black jetta (looked just like this car) crashes a wooden barrier and splashes in the Raritan river right in front of us. It sunk in 5 seconds, didnt float like this one. Luckily it was only about 6 ft of water. Was shallow enough that we could hold our breath and stay down for a while. The doors wouldnt open until all the bubbles rushed out of the car, you could hear the bubb More..

@xXDanksterXx Good job at that and also hope it was at a clean end of the Raritan river. Know how dirty it can be like the Rawhway river that I live by =P

Nice to see a clip that makes us proud of being human instead of disgusted. All concerned should be taking a bow!

Really inspiring footage. The next time I want to drive my car off a bridge, I'll be sure to do it in Portland.
