Raw video Dec 31/07:Iligan City,Philippines...A fire razed one fireworks wholesale and retailer stall in Iligan City destroying around P1 million worth of property last Monday, New Year’s Eve.
Felix Talasan, a radioman, told Sun.Star Cagayan de Oro that lighted cigarette butts were thrown within the display area, triggering a spark that caused the fire to spread.
Ironically, the fire outbreak occurred just as the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) and the Iligan City police precinct were conducting an information campaign on “Oplan Pa ala-la” to remind the public on preventive measures during the New Year revelry.
The fire truck responded to the fire that spread along Roxas Avenue and Quezon Avenue fronting the post office, Talasan added.
The police authorities have been campaigning for the past three days, but several forms of fireworks paraphernalia and pyro materials are open for sale in Iligan City.
