Police are searching for a suspect who attacked and robbed a woman while she was making a deposit at the bank.
Miami Shores Police said the attack happened Monday morning, just steps away from the police department, in the area of Northeast 98th Street and Second Avenue. "She's approached by an unknown black male, who strikes her with a stun gun," said Miami Shores Police Detective Kerry Turner.
Surveillance footage showed the female victim as she deposited money into the ATM. Then, the thief approached her and used the stun gun on her, which caused the victim to fall to the ground. "You can see the stun gun in the subject's hand, I believe in his right hand, and as he reaches out to use the stun gun, he uses the other hand to try and grab the deposit bag away from her, which he was successful in doing so," said Turner.
Witnesses gave chase, but the crook got away with the victim's cash.
According to police, the victim works in the area at a fast food restaurant and she was depositing cash for the business when the robbery took place. The victim was injured, but is expected to be OK. "Very, very brazen. We're talking 10:25 in the morning. You have a lot of people out on Second Avenue at that time," Turner said.
