WINTER PARK, Fla., Oct. 4 (UPI) -- After allegedly leading police on a high-speed chase, a Winter Park, Fla., man, took one last swig of beer and gave officers the finger before being arrested.
William Joseph Galloway, 26, finally stopped after driving at 115-mph and up, but wasn’t ready to give in, telling police that he "was going to die fighting and swinging," the Jacksonville (Fla.) Times Union reported.
He was finally subdued by a 15-second Taser burst shot by one of the deputies after the man crashed his white pickup into a line of trees.
"The suspect rolled down his window and drank from a beer can while displaying his middle finger in defiance," the report said. Galloway allegedly reached for the glove box and that is when the deputy fired the Taser.
Galloway was then taken to the Flagler Hospital for an evaluation where medical tests determined he had been taking methamphetamines and drinking beer all day.
He was charged with driving under the influence, driving with a suspended or revoked license, aggravated fleeing, attempting to elude and resisting arrest without violence and taken to the St. Johns County jail, where he was held on an $8,000 bail.
