Is a U.S. general losing his job over Benghazi?

Is an American General losing his job for trying to save the Americans besieged in Benghazi? This is the latest potential wrinkle in the growing scandal surrounding the September 11, 2012 terrorist attack that left four men dead and President Obama scrambling for a coherent explanation. ...

[O]n October 26, "Ambassador" posted the following RUMINT on TigerDroppings (h/t Jim Hoft): ...

"(The) basic principle is that you don't deploy forces into harm's way without knowing what's going on; without having some real-time information about what's taking place," Panetta told Pentagon reporters. "And as a result of not having that kind of information, the commander who was on the ground in that area, Gen. Ham, Gen. Dempsey and I felt very strongly that we could not put forces at risk in that situation."

The information I heard today was that General Ham as head of Africom received the same e-mails the White House received requesting help/support as the attack was taking place. General Ham immediately had a rapid response unit ready and communicated to the Pentagon that he had a unit ready.

General Ham then received the order to stand down. His response was to screw it, he was going to help anyhow. Within 30 seconds to a minute after making the move to respond, his second in command apprehended General Ham and told him that he was now relieved of his command.

The story continues that now General Rodiguez would take General Ham's place as the head of Africom.

  • The only people that should lose their jobs over this incident all belong to the current liberal regime not the military.

  • Interesting, I'm split on the Gen.'s decision . On one side he did well, on the other he broke protocol. Sadly nobody's taking the blame for the lack of forethought on the situation developing in the days prior .
This story reminds me of Crimson Tide.

  • I am sure the White House will detain anybody in the US Military or Government Service who disputes the "Official" lie of what happened, likely in a cell in Gitmo. Unfortunately a SEAL who was in the Annex isn't available for detention for refusing orders to stand down. Because he's dead, after saving the 5 survivors at the consulate, also against orders to "stand down".

  • Nobody in Washington had a chance to relieve Tyrone Woods before he went to the Consulate after getting the same order. Can they discipline him now, after he was killed?

  • It would appear this scuttlebutt is true,I hope not.If it is,then the Pentagon has the right to clean out D.C. and all the dep'ts at the request of the US citizenry.

  • It's like a movie script starring a treasonous traitor in charge doing everything in his power to sabotage the integrity & safety of diplomats at an embassy in a far off land to get an inch closer to the master plan. Whatever that is.

    Oliver Stones new movie?

But who's the scapegoat in movie?

  • Yeah, go check out the list Wubya went thru during the last two wars he started. I do remember one Tommy Franks, that wrote in a book about how he wanted more ground troops in tora bora because he belived they had bin lauden holed up and he wanted to finish the job. But was refused from washington in favor of paying tribal warlords millions to outsource the job to. Basically they took there cash and escorted UBL over the border into Pakistan. One thing we have here in America.....SHORT MEMORIES.

    • @GradySizematters
A toothless defense of Obama's incompetence is to bring up Bush. When you get pulled over for speeding do you say to the cop "other people sped before I did, so I'm not accountable" Your Obama defense is flawed on every level.

    • @CannabinolKid Tell ya whats fucked up dude is you trying your hypocritical foreign policy on justifing losing tens of thousands of brave military men and women against the lost of a few in a country caught in a civil war.
Pull your head out of your ass and take a deep breath.
Obama took responsibily in the matter as did the person APPOINTED, Hillary Clinton. You know how the fuck country or world operates??
