Japanese technology TNK-bp in Russia

Russia...
Transcribed:

Greetings! I work as land surveyor at JSC "VMK" Moscow Сonstruction
Dept., my name is Mikhail (Viacheslavovich) Buk . We are standing near
the famous "AS-2" overpass right now. Newest innovations of 21st century
are utilised here. Let's see now what this is all about. Can you see
this man-made miracle, how heh ideally do axes run. Here it is... That
man, who will conduct acceptance, may disapprove, abort sign-off and go
on to say that it's all witchcraft and pornography et cetera. I'll tell
you - that man doesn't know beans. Here, I'll reinforce my point, newest
innovational technologies are being utilised, which were developed and
approved by Research&Design Institute "Orenburg-Oil". It was them
who invented such a wonder. See, axes were placed here by the newest
modern machinery, the japanese tachymeters: Sokkia, Topcon. This isn't
some old russian theodolite for ya. So they used theodolites in the old
days, so what? Accurate and gouge-free, but soo tasteless! Now look at
this little beauty! Yeah, here she is! Such a wondrous contraption.
That's how they likely build in Japan nowadays, because TNK-bp workers
attend paid seminars there quite often now, to learn the new building
process. 'Cause, look at them, so used to the old-fashioned ways, all
this parallel and perpendicular non-sense. Bollocks! It's completely
different now. That's how it is. 21st century. "Age of technological
advancement", how our beloved president Vladimir Putin loves to speak,
"Age of space and information technology". Watch and learn, gentlemen
*cough*, from TNK-bp how to do your job the modern way.

    • @h0lla I'm going to throw in a wild guess here; Both.

The Russians have probably made some errors, but fuck, the Japanese selling their product can probably be equally blamed for not having courses that are good enough - and even if they did - why in the world won't they come out and help out their costumers at their first building site? It's called costumer service, that's how you build good relations with costumers. That's especially important when the project is as big as this is (it looks l More..

  • What are these crazy Russians up to now? I'm no civil engineer, but I would have thought pipe "A" should be welded to pipe "B", instead of welding pipe "A" askew to pipe "B" using a 1" steel plate?

On the plus, we should get some extra LL video's from this project in the future :p

  • He is talking about how whoever did the job of putting that stuff together, did that job at the level of a mentally challenged individual (i am slightly paraphrasing here). He was comparing it to some good work to some bad work on site and how someone did some of the work like an idiot. Compensating for poor alignment of the steel beams by placing a metal plate there and welding the bottom portion to the top through that slight improvisation. At least that is what i got from it. • @little15
Ya, it's like having no pillar at all. By ofsetting the pillar on the steel plate, all the force (both the weight of the structure and any lateral force) are dependant on the welds at the plate instead of the pillar itself. These will fail. (for sure)
