Fun fact: not all train crossing have barriers or even lights! Some even just have signs!
The crossing was clearly marked and if the driver had any sense & education he would have taken some sort of precaution when approaching the crossing; lights or no lights. I cross a heavily-used track several times a day and I never take for granted the possibility that the safety-barriers are not working properly and I always check for trains.
