A Broward County jury has found a former Broward Sheriff's detention deputy guilty of raping a handcuffed female inmate during a move from one jail to another.
Charles Edward Floyd, 40, who had turned down a plea deal of five years in prison now faces 20 years to life when he's sentenced this November.
During the trial the 32-year old woman testified that she and two other inmates were being taken to a different facility on June 13th, 2007 when Floyd separated her from the others, took her to a remote location and forced her to perform oral sex on him before he raped her.
Prosecutors say DNA recovered from the woman's body after the assault as evidence to support her story.
Floyd's defense attorney said the woman, a convicted felon, was lying in hopes of bringing a million-dollar civil case against the county.
