Obama Cites 'Independent, Non-Partisan Study' Written by Former Staffer, Close Ally

The study, titled “On The Distributional Effects Of Base-Broadening Income Tax Reform,” was written by Samuel Brown, William Gale, and Adam Looney.

As Looney's biography page at the Brookings Institution
states, "Looney was the senior economist for public finance and tax
policy with the President’s Council of Economic Advisers and has been an
economist at the Federal Reserve Board."

  • Yep, I just saw this. He KNEW this was dishonest when he said it. This was a deliberate deception. I used to say he was just philosophically screwed up with all that Marxist nonsense he got from his Daddy, Frank Davis, and his commie mother, nurtured by fruit cake Marxist professors. Is this just corrupt Chicago politics coming through? The lying from the White House about the bust, the constant attack on business in complete agreement with what Obama's mother said that he sees businesses as &qu More..

    • @Tanngrisnir3 - FOUR NEGATIVE THUMBS DOWN , go ahead and count them..... 1 - 2 - 3 - 4

That should send a signal even to a total bumbling fool that something is wrong in your head.

Any time you want to make an intelligent comment, I am willing to answer. But this... You represent your side well.

A request for an 'intelligent comment' from a clown who thinks Obama 'hates capitalism'? LOL.

And 'my side'? My side is rational thought and logic. Unlike you, I don't rely on opinions given to me by other people.

Go steal a clue from someone; you're clearly to stupid to ever get on one your own.

So, anonymous votes on an Internet forum is how you value reality?

LOL. That's not surprising, coming from a clown like you, Nancy.

  • Brookings is no more 'non-partisan' than the Southern Law Poverty Center. They masquerade as non-partisan, but end up vast majority of the time left-of-center.

  • No, nope nothing to see here, just ask the president he will tell you it is an non-partisan institute..

Right from the Brooking's institute site.

An independent research and policy institute with a left-liberal inclination, which seeks to improve the performance of American institutions

Time Magazine described it as the "nation's pre-eminent liberal think tank"

    Posted Aug-1-2012 By

  • He cites a study from an "independent, bi-partisan organization". There's a difference. Looney worked for Obama, and Gale was senior staff economist for GHWBush. Brown just worked for the banks.

    Posted Aug-1-2012 By

  • Why didn't you put William Gale's Brookings Institution biography page up there too? -Gale's page states that he was a senior staff economist for the Council of Economic Advisers under President George H.W. Bush. (Wouldn't that make it non-partisan, if it has both Republicans and Democrats in it?) Cmon man...

    • @JihadKiller1s1k Don't you think that seems like a deliberate omission, dude? I mean, mentioning the Democrat but conveniently not mentioning the Republican certainly makes it seem more one-sided wouldn't ya agree?

  • Okay, well you Romney voters are pretty confident that Obama's wrong on the national debt crisis...But- why do you have so much blind faith in the Romney "plan" when Romney hasn't even articulated it yet? Not trying to flame, I am really asking. You do realize that raising tax rates on the highest earners would at least begin to repair some of the defecit.... Obama has a PLAN to reduce the defecit. Romney has been promising to reduce the deficit while also simultaneously lowering every More..

    • @IIVXTII Zombie yes men, okay- but still compared to Romney he has an actual workable plan to reduce the defecit, dude. I don't see how you can call that an idealistic view if you are gonna vote for a guy with no numbers in his plan? Do you really think it will be possible to reduce tax rates across the board and also repair the defecit? There's pretty much no way to do it- Which one ya gonna dismantle completely, Social Security, Defense or Medicare? I am thinking Romney is making a lotta crazy More..

    • @SYPHILIS DILLER That's my point, Diller...Obama has actual numbers in his defecit reduction plan, unlike Romney. Added to the fact that the Bush tax cuts cost over a trillion dollars...the Iraq War cost 12 billion a month...I trust Dems more on the economy, seriously.
