snake eating frog

This was recorded today, August 6th at Marineland in Niagara Falls. there was this big crowd was watching this and eventually my wife set the frog free by pulling the snake off, (couldn't eat the frog anyway) and the crowd was dismayed, having being robbed of the poof suffering of the frog with his one leg in the snakes mouth.

  • You should've saved the frog, then taken the snake and slung it at that little girl looking there. Now THAT would have been LL - material right there.

  • Nice video, but that's a toad not a frog. He puffed himself up to avoid being eaten.

    • How would your wife feel if someone grabbed food out of her hands? Anyway that looks like a toad, not a frog.

    • hey "PsychoPete you should teach your wife not to interupt natures course, you NEVER get in between an animal and its prey, you CAN however move the animals to a safe place where they wont be interrupted by humans. the snake may now starve to death due to your wifes actions. It bad enough that humans interrupt the balance of nature in many other ways with our infastructure. so please inform your wife that its a bad idea to get between a predator and it prey, think for a moment, if you wer More..

  • That snake could've easily eaten the frog. Snakes can unhinge their jawbones and swallow something much larger than it's own head.

Your wife was an asshat for stealing it's prey, better to have left it alone or moved both to an area that was clear from people.

    • Dont they usually kill the prey first, curious on this one, just kept trying to swallow it alive. With so many diffrent species of snake out there. I'm not a big snake person but once I ended up with a ball python because a friend wasn't taking care of it. And i swore the thing was cross eyed because everytime i put a mouse right in front of him he would strike up,down, left, right, never grabbing the snake. it was a classic

    • Yes its a simple garter snake very very common around the falls in Canada. It is not a pine snake or Pituophis melanoleucus

  • Thanks for the video Pete. Must have been one hungry Garter. I love them for their pest control but my dog eats them. It wouldn't have been able to eat Mr. Toad.

  • It was not a frog but a tode.
A part of its surviving technique is to blow up his utter skin with air, so predators like this snake can not smallow it. Sometimes they also have a sort of fluid on the skin that tastes very bad and interacts with the saliva. The predator then gets a foamy mouth with an incredible bad taste. It makes you think twice to attack a tode.
    Nature is wonderful!

  • What were these creatures doing on a sidewalk in a public area as it is not their habitat?? Maybe the snake's battle for a scrumptious frog's leg lunch began on nearby grass and the frog was looking for some human help. Sorry for trying to answer my own question.

  • The frog most certainly could have been eatin by that snake. The frog was puffing up to make himself look bigger. Defensive mechanism obviously. If the snake is non-venomous then he will have a little trouble killing the frog in order to eat it.

  • PsychoPete here, wow, didn't even think they would even post my video, wasn't like insurgents getting blown to bits or anything good like that. Thanks for all these comments, I've been reading them all, funny thing with the discussion it raised about kids not being horrified by this snake and toad and everyone watching, the jumpy camera was me working my way into the crowd, half the people were saying kill the snake or pull him off and the other half just stood there and gawked. The feeding was More..

  • I agree with the majority of comments here. Should have just let the snake have it's catch. Just trying to survive. I guess the toad is also but survival of the fittest.
