Appearing on Fox News Sunday this morning, Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa told host Chris Wallace that the Republican Party platform looks more like the party platform of 1812.
“If you look at [the GOP's] 2012 platform, it looks like it is from another century, maybe even two,” Villaraigosa said.
“It looks like the platform of 1812.” he explained, “When you see
they want to repeal the Affordable Care Act providing 32 million people
with health care with no alternative plan of their own. They call for
the self-deportation of eleven million people — no country in the world
has ever done that. They don’t believe in abortion even in the case of
rape and incest.”
“It’s a platform that is from another century,” he concluded.
“I just want to point out, it does matter, that Mitt Romney does support the exception for rape and incest,” Wallace corrected the mayor.
The L.A. mayor then went on to criticize the Democratic Party for
it’s reluctance to address pension reform, and seniority and tenure
issues.

The economic policies that caused the current financial situation across the globe are the Fair Housing Act, and the CRA(Community Reinvestment Act)...which are both Democrat policies starting with Jimmy Carter in the 70's and Bill Clinton at the end of his term early 2000's- These two gemstones are well known causes of the Housing Bubble~ and housing is the cause of today's economic condition.

As for the quote "They don’t believe in abortion even in the case of
rape and incest.”
I being I suppose a "right winger" completely support abortion in those cases and those that pose an extreme danger to the life of the mother and/or child.. What I have a problem with is using abortion as a form of "birth control" when a pregnancy occurs because one or both parties involved in the act took no precautions to prevent it when not wanted.

Agreed, this post was about the platform which is long to include.
I'd agree with a 20 max on abortion, no longer.
You as a smart republican on LL are about the only one I enjoy a discussion with. Everyone else is just going to attack the mayor, which I knew before I posted this.
The platform is the most conservative in at least 100 years and that does give you insight into the mind of what I can't help but describing as crazy in the 21st century.

The only thing I would attack the mayor for is his assumption that all republicans feel as he describes and thats not the case. He's trying to make it appear as though this is the mindset of all conservatives and thats not so. As for deportation, well thats a whole nother ball game. If you're here "illegally" then get out and I'll welcome you back when you do it "legally".

@dcmfox Try to quit the useless insults and third grade name calling.
You might also try and put down that broad brush you like to paint us all with.
Then the discussion will be much better and easier.

And you are what, brilliant?
So Obama is a failure because he can't clean up a mess left by YOUR party in 3 1/2 years that took 8 years to make?
Seems like the last time I saw a debt clock was after the GOD Reagan. Who wasn't selling weapons to Mexico, but Iran instead, charming.
Not to mention Jim, over 200 people from GOD's term went to jail.

So you're saying that Bush caused the financial crisis stemming from a burst real estate bubble?
Your logic is, Obama and his administration deserves four more years because Bush f'd it up that bad?
Name any company that would hire a CEO to do a job (regardless of the state of the company) and then after 3 1/2 of spending and no progress (in some cases regression) sign him on for another four years? Come on man, use your head.

By cutting taxes during wartime, first potus to ever do that, yes.
3% isn't a ton of money but over the ten years of the Bush Tax Cuts adds up. 88 billion over ten years is close to a trillion.
You can't compare the United States Government with a business, its nothing like that.
I know you all hate facts but the very simplest one is Bush wrecked the house. Started tsa, HLS with no funding, cut taxes during war, paid for the wars on the credit card all this in 8 years and Obam More..

I didn't, I compared the president to a CEO. That's what the job is. The biggest CEO in the world.
Yup, we hate facts. You forgot science, women, old people and homosexuals.
Obama has done NOTHING to move this e More..

Platform from another century? Is this guy stupid?
It is common sense to repeal the ACC (which we can't pay for), and it makes sense to deport people that are BREAKING THE LAW by being here. They pay virtually no taxes and use services.
This guy uses strong arm arguments where he tries to make his position sound reasonable (even though it is absurd), and if you don't agree with him, you're racist, stupid, etc.

To be honest, I lean conservative a lot but there are some republican issues that are just so archaic, women should always have the right to choose and I'm no advocate for abortion, I do think its pretty awful and the rape and incest cares are about .001% of abortion cases. In NYC last year there was 87,000 abortions!!! People use it as birth control and thats awful. I also think gay people should be able to get married I dont think gov't has any right to say they can't. If a church doesn't want More..

I believe Republicans don't really want abortion to be illegal since 1/3
are by black women (last time I checked). This would would allow the birth of a disproportionate amount of Democrat voters.

@aussite I agree, there are conservatives who are socially liberal I guess you can say. The problem is that republicans draw a line in the sand for their own party, if they don't tow the party line then they're ostracized and basically get to sit in a corner and play by themselves.

@The Grim Republican or not, Conservatives don't care if you choose to have an abortion actually! Nor do they care if you choose to marry a donkey! What shakes my monkey tree, is when abortion is paid for with tax payers money. Or when the marriage tax credit that's given to traditional marriages, gets applied to gay marriage too. That's the truth behind the bs put out there by the main stream. It's easier to make Republicans look bad by just saying they're against abortion or gay marriage.
