A gang of Sweeney Todd cannibals murdered up to nine victims and baked some of them into pies, a court heard yesterday.

Jorge Silveira, 50, wife Isobel, 51, and his mistress Bruna da Silva, 25, lured young women to their house to work as nannies.

Police say they used their victims’ flesh for pastries they ate themselves or sold to neighbours.

The five-year-old daughter of one murdered girl was made to eat human flesh as part of a “purification ritual”, cops claim.

Officers found the remains of Giselly da Silva, 31, and Alexandra Falcao, 20, buried in the garden.

They say the trio have now admitted seven other killings.

A court in Olinda, Brazil, began hearing the case yesterday.

The three accused are members of a sect that preaches “purification” by reducing the world’s population.

The case echoes that of fictional demon barber Sweeney Todd in Victorian London.

Johnny Depp played the title role in Tim Burton’s 2007 movie.
