Operation "Phantom Fury" was the offensive by US, British and Iraqi troops to take back the city of Fallujah, Iraq. Coalition forces numbered 13,500 for the attack with 6,500 Marines and 1,500 (about one regiment) of US Army soldiers attacking. The city had been taken over by terrorists led by Al Zarquawi with an estimated 3,000 enemy on November 7, 2004. It was the coalition forces intent to remove the terrorists by force in the city.
David Bellavia was a US Army Staff Sargeant in the bloody battle. He describes his experiences fighting the enemy with guns, helmets, and knives in close hand to hand combat.
