Need to breed that big mofo. I hope his size doesn't put too much strain on his bones and health in general.

Sadly, that's a major risk with Danes, especially hip issues. Sounded like they are going the extra mile with special nutrition.

Yeah, takes a lot of money in Vet bills too. Don't get me wrong, this breed is VERY smart and excellent family dogs but that health thing is the stopping point for me.

Man... I thought WE had a big dog. 12 cups of food a day?!
Sadly, I'd bet that his lifespan will be relatively short due to his size. Seems like a great gentle giant, though.

I couldn't own one of these great dogs, too short of a lifespan for me. We all get pretty attached to all our dogs. They become an essential part of the family and ranch life we live. Last dog that passed away took me well over two years to get over.Still get misty just thinking about her. 6-8 years is too short. Takes me that long to get a dog to do what I want him/her to do,lol.

Great danes naturally have a short life regardelss of their size...they say if your dane lives to 6 is about average...8 years and up you are doing well.

@Fire37Rescue Yep. We just put our Siberian Husky, Sequoia, to sleep last May. He made it to 16 years, one month. I had him since he was 6 weeks old. Longest friendship I think I've ever had. I truly still feel like a part of me is missing, even more than a year later, and even after recently getting another dog (who looks like a smaller version of this moose in the video). He was special.
