College Students + Petition to Redistribute Grades = Ignorant Hypocracy

The Young America’s Foundation (YAF) just released a “stellar entry”
from its annual GPA Redistribution Petition and Video Contest. That
contest looks to capture hypocritical thinking on college campuses,
where many are willing to redistribute wealth but not grades.

  • One of the most entertaining things to watch is cognitive dissonance.

That is, if they are smart enough to make the connection and weigh both positions.

  • To the OP. I honestly believe the students doing this project were not at all serious. It was a psych experiment at it's best. They were attempting to get others to think about re-distribution of wealth thru the redistribution of GPA's. I think they did a great job at it too.

  • Outstanding work!

As much as I adored the morality of those who refused to sign it, I was disgusted and dismayed by the amount of those that did.

    • @Rebel_Radius

the ones who signed it were the ones with the shitty grades...or the poor people who would look for the handout

In some cases, yes, but there were a number of people who said that their GPA would probably go down, and they signed it anyway. That, to me, is pretty surprising.

I wonder what would happen if the system were actually implemented. Would the overall GPA average at the university go up, down, or remain the same? I'm betting that struggling students would have less motivation to avoid failing since, after all, failing would essentially be impossible. At the same time, would it be More..

  • I want to redistribute sleep and work, I work far too much and don’t get enough sleep.

Can we get some deadbeats and crack heads to work so I can catch up on sleep?

  • What the fuck is this? Are you kidding me? So they want college to be graded on a curve so lazy fucks not pulling their weight can "graduate"?

Not only NO, but FUCK NO. Fuck you to the lazy fucks out there. Study harder or find a line of work that doesn't require a degree. Lazy fucking fucks.

    • @dirtbiker201 They were trying to prove a point about the redistribution of wealth.

    • @ChumCannon

Thank God. I thought they were serious. I must be more naive than I thought.

The people behind the camera might have been pulling a stunt, but a lot of those students signing seemed completely serious.

I'm shocked that this many people signed the petition and agreed to its premises. The joke is on them.

I wonder what would happen if a professor announced this policy in a course at the same university, provided that a majority of students in the class agreed to it. If most did, and then some still failed, the professor could come back after the first a More..
