I don't really believe this but I heard during the Falkland Islands War the British protected their ships from the Exocet missile by having helicopters hover at low altitude along the broadside of the ship. That way if the ship got fired upon it would hit the helicopter. One of the members of the royal family actually flew one of these missions. The Exocet is a french harpoon.. harpoon was in service 2 years earlier! I remember when the British were furious with the french for selling them to the Argies! The harpoon can also pull a "pop-up" attack where to confuse Anti Missile batteries, it' jumps up and comes straight down on the target.

@Panzerknacker2 both are equally known.. 29 countries vs 31 countries.. The Harpoon is in use with more developed Forces. Exocet is more of a smaller country with limited money weapon.. it's the cheaper of the 2 both work fine. Guess it's just where you are from.

@Aariss The Exocet was in service with Germany and Great britain so I wont get in the categorization os small or big countries, is highly subjetive, the thing is Exocet is far more known than Harpoon because the war, nothing else.
