"Hundreds of pages of confidential internal documents from the private equity firm Bain Capital published online Thursday provided new details on investments held by the Romney family's trusts, as well as aggressive strategies that Bain appears to have used to minimize its investors' and partners' tax liabilities...".* Cenk Uygur and comedian Jimmy Dore discuss on The Young Turks.

  • What he did is legal who the fuck cares

    • @ggppgg At least he is a good strategist. I also try to pay as little as possible.

    • @ggppgg - actually, it's NOT legal. The problem is, the GOP Congress has so underfunded the IRS, there are not enough resources to start implementing the law. Did you see the video?

  • "Over and over again, courts have said that there is nothing sinister in arranging one's affairs as to keep taxes as low as possible. Everybody does so, rich or poor; and all do right, for nobody owes any public duty to pay more than the law demands, taxes are enforced exactions, not voluntary contributions."

    • @weirdpyramid Again, there is nothing wrong with what he is doing. It is not illegal. So, again, it's none of our concern. I'm not going to tell him what to do with his money. Likewise, if I told you what to do with your money. He earned he can do what ever he wants (within legal limits) with it. If it is legal, then why is it any of your concern? The man is worth $250M. Maybe we should look at that as an example of what steps we should do to save money. Sure as hell our government needs that ki More..

    • @weirdpyramid Also to answer your questions:

Do I have an offshore account? No, I don't.
Have I been able to leave my job but still get paid from it? No, fortunately, I have been blessed to have quit my job only to go into a new one immediately.

Have I been able to take the advantage of the tax codes like Romney? No, I haven't, but where does it say we're not allowed to? Where are we barred from having these advantages? Money? Then that is your problem. This is the land of opportunity and free More..

  • So all of us out here want to make as much money as we can and pay as little in taxes as we can. If Romney has achieved that shouldn't he be lauded for it?

    • @weirdpyramid
Whose fault is that? Seriously, we weren't all born into money but if you're wise with the money you do have, you too could have a tax deduction of your choice.

    • @weirdpyramid You're wrong. All of us "could" - however, those who don't chalk it up to any number of "reasons": No opportunity, no drive or simply no desire. For me, it's no desire because I'm inherently lazy. I don't want the responsibilities and headaches that come with earning those big bucks. What's your excuse? I think if we were honest with ourselves, we could all find the "reason" we're not wealthy. Regardless, Romney, for whatever "reason" More..

  • Lawyerly weaselwording at its best.

I have been employed since 1964. I guess I never made enough money to qualify for a tax haven.

  • Nothing illegal at all. So he's being trashed for being intelligent with his money??

    Posted Aug-27-2012 By

  • So he's smart with money???

Just the man we need in office.

Obama has proved he is financially retarded.

  • So, people are saying neither Romney nor Obama are any good, that both are corrupt. IF that's the case, then vote Obama - here's why:
    1) since he can't be re-elected, he won't be beholden to the 1%.
    2) if Romney's in office, his goal will be to increase the power of the 1% - with tax breaks, tax amnesties and pardons to the Wall Street elite.
    3) regardless of what you think of Obamacare, it's a start. Change it, but don't flat out repeal it. If the latter is done, YOU WILL NEVER SEE A REPLACEME More..

  • When are you yanks going to focus on the small details like your crushing deficit, unemployment, taxes and even the dissolution of your rights with congress slipping in things like HR347 without so much as a mainstream press mention? Forget Bain, forget birther theories and fake social security numbers. Find the right bloke for the job. You've limited your choices by voting for these twats..make the most of what you've got.

    • @UKGEZR Cause both candidates are sellouts. The ticket should read Obama/Romney 2013.

      Posted Aug-27-2012 By

      (2)

    • @UKGEZR I agree.
The Republicans would love to focus on real issues because Obama can't run on his record. The dems keep throwing every distraction they can think of to divert public attention away from what matters.

    • @TOAORick I keep close tabs on US politics because like it or not, it affects us. We have lads in Afghanistan fighting and dying because of US politics. We have to watch what you do and quite frankly, it's worrying.

    • @UKGEZR I think that's the worst part about it all. Our problems do, most certainly, affect the rest of the globe. Americans though, being as selfish as we are, remain clueless as to what has become known as collateral damage.
