WHILE I DONT SHARE HIS IDEAL'S I FIND IT REMARKABLE THAT HE HELD HIS OWN IN A DEBATE WITH SOME OF THE BRIGHTEST MINDS OF HIS TIME BEING A SELF EDUCATED MAN

I read his biography many years ago. It totally changed the way I thought of him. I had no idea who he really was before that. You can't help but respect him for accomplishments, even though you may not agree with his politics.
Thank you for posting.
Voted.

Hmm....interesting.
52 years old and this is the first time I've actually watched & listened to Malcom X.
Given the timeframe ('60s), I can't find fault in anything he had to say.

@Bogenschutze The real "Civil Rights" leaders didn't like him and eventually killed him just as I believe they did MLK, Jr.. When MLK, Jr. decided he wasn't going to take their orders anymore he was a marked man. If you listen to his last speech, it sounds like he knew that, talking about 'I might not be there with you.', to paraphrase.

Goes to show how education does not necessarily equal intelligence. Some of the greatest thinkers of time had no opportunity to attend anything like a university while some of the biggest morons could have gone to an Ivy league school and learned nothing.

This depicted perfectly the double standard held by many Americans that says we want freedom for ourselves but demand opposition, whom also want freedom, be silent. Malcolm X, knew what he was talking about and was right in many ways. Sadly, many Americans will look at his faith and disregard everything he said no matter how truthful it was.

Like many great leaders, it's always their own kind that end up destroying them.

@deathgod198255 Thanks, I just believe in the Constitution and the wisdom it imparted on us as a society. I believe a lot of great men died for freedom and we have to fight to maintain it at any cost to make sure their deaths weren't in vain.

There are very few people today who can match Malcolm X for fire, passion, eloquence, & intelligence. A truly great man.

@Vespasian I wouldn't go that far but I didn't appreciate him for what he was at the time. Today, he'd be calling Obama a "house Negro". I don't remember which of his speeches I saw on LL where he used that term. He also uses the term "racialist" rather than today's liberal term "racist". He stood on his hind legs and I respect him for that.

he's absolutely right. and now, that same game is being played on white people. we decide to defend ourselves and we are racists and extremists.

mehhh, I wouldn't go that far. There is certainly the blowback that comes along with being white post civil-rights movement, but blaming Obama is a bit far fetched. I'm no Obama supporter, but it's very hard to make that argument.

I WILL NEVER GET THE REASON WHY SMALL PEOPLE FEEL THE NEED TO BELITTLE PEOPLE OF WHICH WHOM ACHIEVE A STATUS OF GREATNESS THAT WILL ELUDE MOST OF US

@deathgod198255
Well that question should be addressed on a case by case basis.
For instance, here, most people are going to attack X because a well spoken black man railing against big government doesnt fit their worldview, but on the other hand, there are people who achieve a "status of greatness" for the wrong reasons. For instance, if someone thinks just being rich is greatness, there are a lot of people who get filthy rich for the worst reasons if a reason at all.

Why is it that Malcolm X is so much more articulate in 1964 than ANY so called Black civil rights leader of the past 20 years? He made sense in a way that Whites had to re-think their value system, and the result was appropriate change. Today it's a different story. Blacks dig for reasons to bitch.

I believe blacks are FAR worse off today than they were in Malcolm's day. And you can blame THAT on their so-called black leaders. Malcolm would not be very happy with the likes of them.
Just my opinion.

Do you actually believe that the Sharptons of the world are actually HELPING Black Americans? If you do, then you need to study the life of Malcolm X more closely.
Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson have made FORTUNES off the plight of Blacks in this country. That fact cannot be refuted, my friend.
