    • @manontherun111
      Lasers have whatage?
      lol

I Am gonna screw with lasers in the future... any layman protection out there??? or will I need Pro glasses?

Recently I was jacking around with a Fresnel lens... and it let me know real quick, that I needed UV protection to see what i was doing, just finding the focal point was too mush to toy with.

    • @TEX The goggles you would need are specific to the laser output wavelength and to a lesser extent, its wattage and power density, most comercial lasers will come with a set of paired goggles, If you build your own laser you will have to know a few things about it to find a good matching pair of goggles that will allow the most light threw while blocking just the laser.

most laser goggles for blue or green lasers will cost you between 50 and 200 bucks depending on if you wear glasses or not. g More..

    • @prototype You need to remove a working laser diode from a broken XBOX or other gaming system or better a DVD or CD **BURNER**..

Then go watch one of the many videos on obtaining or making a "driver board" that will run on the power source of your choice.

Mount it in the "gun" of your choice.

      Popular are the minimag flashlights.

Though I have been messing with rifle sized systems using laptop batteries.

I do offer free tattoo removal at up to 10 yards.. :)

    • @prototype Not really the amount of hours involved makes the profit motive impossible.

Who is going to pay to cover 80 hours of labor for what is essentially no more then a toy?

  • a friend of mine just gave me an old 1980's Hughes 3221h-c helium-neon laser with a separate working power supply.
Fired it up, only to find it's only 5mW... my little battery operated hand-held is more powerful !
I guess I won't have to worry about batteries playing with the cat now, tho....

  • Its just a mater of time and somebody will be on the news, blinded by a laser, and some law will be made to make them a felony.

It is so damn easy to make one of those lasers.

I got a 120v laser sitting on the shelf in my mother-in-law's garage. Leftovers from a concert.
