Man dies after shots fired at North Austin car repair shop

A deadly confrontation earlier Thursday, when an unidentified man confronted his former boss and then apparently shot himself in a wooded area.

Police say the man was a disgruntled employee of the MotorCars vehicle repair shop. They say he carried a gun into that business about 1:30 p.m. and exchanged heated words with his former boss. The manager ran out the door -- escaping in a nearby parking lot -- as the suspect reportedly shot at him.

"A couple of our employees heard gunshots," said Jeanine Krivokucha, a technician for the Anderson Mill Animal Clinic. "But that’s all that we heard. And they saw a gentleman run around the building. That was all.”

The suspect ran into a wooded area behind the animal clinic, and that’s where police say they heard one last shot. An apparently self-inflicted wound later claimed his life after being transported to Brackenridge Hospital by StarFlight.

Surprisingly, no one else was injured, and no specific details have been released about the alleged disgruntled employee's firing.

The suspect has not yet been identified. The only thing police are saying for now is that he was a white male about 54 years old.
