Kihsteel Forging Co

a Netherlands based steel forging company shows the type of forgework we've seen before but never tire of watching!

although the ring rolling is fascinating to observe, the massive Open-Die Forging with workers
doing whats called 'notching' is quite something to see at close quarters - these men know their trade, it's a pleasure to watch them work.

  • as always, a great vid. The ring forging at the beginning missed the sizing portion at the end, this is when the ring forging is placed on a sizer and is stretched in to a shape closer to the final drawings: OD, ID and Length.

If you are ever in So Cal try to visit Carlton Forge, Schlosser Forge or Forged Metals and get a tour. In the midwest there is Ladish and Viking, in the Seattle area there is Jorgensen Steel they make the long propeller shafts for nuclear subs, ships etc. overall great p More..

    • @downhill2400 !! I love this vid. esp the open die forge at 2.45 and those men doing the notching at 3.15 ish with their practiced eye and the one man's professional nonchalance! imagine what that must be like positioning the tool at that close range to that mighty press.

      This is Forge Porn Deffo!

  • Oops. .SE is Sweden, not Netherlands.

If you have a source I'd really like to see the gun barrel process where they drill or punch a large hole in a short fat round billet and then stretch it so that the hole and billet elongate and narrow down to form the gun barrel

  • I wish I could have the ability to grab onto those glowing superheated slabs of metal and hold them in my hands without my skin vaporizing.
