Authorities in Texas have found human remains that could belong to Hailey Dunn, the 13-year-old cheerleader who disappeared December 27, 2010.


The bones were found outside Big Spring, less than a mile from the parental home of her mother's boyfriend.


Shawn Adkins is the only named person of interest in the girl's disappearance and he has failed or walked out of three separate police lie detector tests.


However, authorities are not saying yet whether the remains, which were discovered in a pasture near McMahon Wrinkle Airpark, belong to Dunn.


Dunn's mother,

Billie Dunn, 33, moved from Colorado City, Texas, where her daughter disappeared, to Austin with her boyfriend Shawn Adkins.


However, ABC News reports the pair since broke up .who remains a person of interest in the disappearance ofHailey Dunn.

Evidence from Adkins' cell phone and a computer show he was at his mother's house, near where the remains were found, the morning that Hailey disappeared.







Adkins told police he last saw the girl on December 27, 2010, when she told him she was going to her father's home and then to spend the night at a friend's house.

But she never showed up at either house, and left home without any belongings, cash or her new iPod.

Adkins and Billie Dunn, who have changed their phone number, have both denied any involvement in Hailey's disappearance.

Both Dunn and Adkins failed polygraph tests set by investigators last January. A police affidavit at the time also revealed Adkins told a relative hurting a teenager would be like 'killing a deer,' and he and Dunn were fixated on serial killers and slasher movies.

Dunn, 33, was arrested three months after Hailey disappeared for lying about her boyfriend's whereabouts and was charged with obstructing justice.

Hailey's paternal grandmother Connie Jones says the girl showed no desire to run away. Her home is covered with pictures of Hailey and said the teenager's softball glove and ball still sit on a stool in living room where she left them.

Asked about Hailey's mother moving away, Mrs Jones said: 'If it was my daughter, there's no way that I would leave that house.'

She added: 'Every time some little kid walks down the road about her age, I'm there at the window pressing my eyes at the window, hoping, praying, that it's her.

'Last month I didn't think I was going to get through the day, but I have to make it.

'I have to make it for when she does come home.'

Mrs Jones and Hailey were very close and used to talk on the phone every day before he disappeared.

'We had so many plans. I was going to teach her how to sew this year,' she told kcbd.com.

'I don't want to live unless I know where Hailey is.
