All mods with the exception of several founders are pooled from the regular LL population.
They often continue to post on their main account while using their mod account to lay down the law.
This is how most community websites operate.

call me naive but I'm one of the two who voted 'no'. I did so on the basis they probably haven't got time to browse and mod. wouldn't be surprised if they're snowed-under so to speak... having said that, I suppose anything's possible but it really doesn't matter does it. I can't recall any bad incident with a mod ever.
