Footage Released Of LA Sheriff's Emergency Detail Rescuing 2 Injured Stranded Hikers

Los Angeles County Sheriff's Helicopter, Air Rescue 5, responded to and
ultimately rescued two injured hikers in the Angeles National Forest.

The
above shown rescue occurred at Eaton Falls, with a male adult from
Pasadena, California, falling eighty feet and landing on the canyon
floor. He sustained moderate trauma injuries and was treated by
Emergency Services Detail paramedics and hoisted into the aircraft.

The
Emergency Services Detail (ESD) operates 24 hours a day, seven days a
week. In addition to their tactical training, all ESD Deputies are
certified paramedics and rescue divers.

ESD is responsible for
coordinating and participating in mountain search and rescue, underwater
search and rescue, and swift water and flood rescue operations for the
Sheriff's Department. They staff the Air Rescue 5 Helicopter, the Ocean
Rescue Boat, and accompany the Special Weapons Teams on all operations.

ESD
also maintains two Reserve companies assigned to its command. The
Medical Company consists of doctors and medical specialists available to
work with the Air-5 crew on busy weekends and major holidays. The
Marine Dive Company consists of boat operators, marine technicians and
underwater operations specialists who can assist with marine operations.
