The future of warfare is center stage in Middle Eastern skies, where a week after shooting down a Hezbollah drone, Israel is showing off the latest state-of-the-art version of its Heron drone. CNN's Sara Sidner reports

    • @Triode Yeah, the F22 will probably be one of the very last advances in manned air-superiorty aircraft. We're already building combat UAVs. There are just too many advantages involved. We've had the technology for a long time that exceeds what the human body can endure. They will be stealth fighter UAVs pulling 20 sustained Gs. etc.

      It makes Iran's SAMs even more irrelevant. Nobody will care when a UAV gets shot down.

    • @ST0N3PONY Humanless aircraft has been on its way a long time. Combat drones isn't something I've heard of before. It'd be nice to be involved with that stuff, very high tech, military grade quality, urgency, hardware, software - it's got the lot.

    • @Triode Yeah, pilots obviously don't like the idea very much though. But it's inevitable, and people will be involved anyway. They're not going to be autonomous things making their own decisions.

      They're going to be launched from the back of trucks. Large bombs will be able to carry 4 of them on hard-points under the wings. Launch them and hook back up mid air. etc.

    • @Furia Actually Israel produces some of the most sophisticated technology in the world. This is only one of many high-tech drones they have designed. They have one the size of an airline jet that can carry large payloads of bombs to the far side of Iran and back.
