Welcome to the first LiveLeak.com staff blog. This will be a regular item on the site with myself and other staff members posting to keep you all up to date on what's going on with LiveLeak, about any issues we might have, upcoming features, and also to run ideas by you folks. Also we'll try to address your comments, questions, and suggestions through here in the hopes of creating a more open line of communication between members and staff.
With this first blog I want to talk about something that has been bothering many of us for some time, buffering. We know it's a problem and it's been a priority for a while to find a solution. Members have suggested "Get another server". Truth is, if it was as simple as throwing a box in the room with all the others we would have done it already. When we launched last October we had no idea we'd grow this quickly, but we have and we have a lot of traffic. Not something to complain about I guess. As a result there has been this problem. I'm happy to say that we do finally have a solution to the problem and soon, in the coming weeks, we'll be putting this into place and it should greatly reduce any buffering issues. I'm not going to say 'eradicate' buffering because it's impossible to predict the future. The best news is that it will mean you can go back to enjoying the main reason you come to LiveLeak, to watch the media, only without having to wait.
We have a new feature on the site too. If you look up at the top of your page where it used to just say "MY MEDIA" it now has "FAV/MY Media" . I'm sure it needs no explanation, but it means you can add videos to your favourites list meaning you no longer have to hunt around the site for them. Speaking of features, please let us know what you would like to see on LiveLeak. We need feedback to know where you guys want the site to go.
Okay, I think I've bent your ears (eyes?) for long enough with this one. If you have any questions, comments, or suggestions please feel free to use the comments section of this post or PM me.
Thanks for reading
