New Zealand Soldiers Farewell Comrades with Funeral HAKA

A large group of New Zealand soldiers have farewelled three of their
comrades, who were killed in Afghanistan, by performing a moving funeral
haka.

Corporal Luke Tamatea, Lance Corporal Jacinda Baker and
Private Richard Harris died when the vehicle they were traveling in was
hit by an improvised explosive device in Bamiyan province last Sunday,
TVNZ reports.

The trio were farewelled at a funeral service at Burnham Military Camp on Saturday.

As
cars carrying the soldier's coffins drove into the base they were met
by a large group of their comrades in ceremonial uniform who advanced
towards the vehicles.

As they closed in on the hearses the
soldiers began to perform a funeral haka, shouting as they slapped their
chests and stamped their feet.
