It's the crack of dawn on Sunday morning. Nobody else is awake yet so you have the living room to yourself. It's way too early to start running amok. What to do? If you were a kid between 1960 and 1972 there was always one of the 65 episodes of Davey and Goliath (produced by Art Clokey the creator of Gumby) on somewhere. It's either that or the weird old bald guy wearing the robe holding up a gold whatchamacallit while chanting something incoherent on the other UHF channel that just started its broadcast day too.

So Davey and Goliath it is by default. You grab yourself a bowl of Honeycomb and curl up for a half hour of stop motion awesomeness. It's not near as good as Saturday morning shows, but it'll do until that sugar kicks in and you have the energy to go collect more wood for the clubhouse you started yesterday.

  • I don't think I ever saw it, but it looks like "Davey and Goliath" would have made for some excellent "tripping on acid" viewing material.

I think that first commercial was an early Obama Campaign video.

I love the sound that TV set makes when you turn it on. Reminds me of the one we had years ago. What they hell caused that I wonder???

Relatively sure that sound comes from the electron guns getting power and warming up. I could be wrong. I noticed that the sound is loudest from the area of the electron guns once when I had the back off my dads old TV from the 70's. It creates a resonance in the cathode ray tube that makes the whole TV vibrate a very little for a second or two.

  • Man this is before my time. I never knew Davey & Goliath was religious propaganda. I liked Gumby better anyway.
