Dramatic last-gasp rescue of a man washed into the sea off the coast of Cornwall

Watch Port Isaac RNLI lifeboat volunteers racing through rough seas on
New Year's Eve in a desperate search to find an angler who was washed
off rocks near Tintagel Head. It's believed the man had been in the
water for up to an hour before he was found. The video was shot by crew
member Matt Main using an RNLI helmet camera and finishes abruptly
because it was damaged during the recovery of the man into the D class
inshore lifeboat. The fisherman was taken back to Boscastle where he was
met by paramedics and then transported on to hospital where he is
recovering. For more information on this incident go here: http://bit.ly/RwhYrX

  • 100% Charity
0% Government funding. It has been steadfastly refusing government funding for 200 years because they do not want government interference that would inevitably accompany it. Decisions should be made by seamen, not landlubbers.
    Quite right too.
    Total f&*%$ing heroes.

  • This group of amazing people have dedicated their lives to saving others and for nothing. They are volunteers who used to be backed by tax payers money to support them. Now they rely on donation as the vile parasites in power slowly but surely remove funding, this and previous fucking pigs have done their best to destroy this amazing group and give it to their rich friends to run and a private industry. Soon you will need insurance to go anywhere near the beach or save yourself if you get into t More..

  • Can you imagine the sense of relief the angler must have felt when the lifeboat pulled up alongside him.
These people do a tremendous job and the RNLI deserves more financial support than they currently get. This is a coastal island and to think of it not having a organisation such as this would be unthinkable.

  • These guys do the most fantastic job. It's a national disgrace that as an island nation the government does not support them by even one penny.

However the government are quite happy to send millions in 'aid' to a country with its own space programme (India).

    Shocking.

    • @7ShadesofSunday Ever stopped to think we don't need a government monopoly for the other "services" forced upon us...?

    • @gazfaz Amen to that. If India can afford nukes and spacecraft they don't need us to pay for their bags of grain. The RNLI should be treated the same as the other emergency services and be paid for in full by HM Government.

    • @Bigs i would certainly never wish for anyone to be 'forced' to save your life, pal

    • @gazfaz The RNLI have repeatedly said they do not want any government funding, donations are a much more secure source of revenue and don't come with conditions attached that change with every election.

  • Always had great respect for the RNLI, always there for people from disasters to drunken idiots. The fact they are volunteers makes them that little bit more special.

  • Beautifully place in Cornwall. Tintagel, Boscastle, Port Isaac. All on that northern stretch of Cornish coastline. Seas crystal clear but can be rough as hell. I always carry my armbands too if I'm visiting Boscastle lol. For any of you into witchcraft etc Boscastle has the best museum of witchcraft in the UK. Next door in Tintagel is the legendary home of King Arthur and the knights of the round temple. Fascinating place.

    • @Death I thought that museum floated out to sea a few years ago after it pissed down for a fortnight.

    • @Dirtboxer hey man that place just managed to survive that flood. Some of the exhibits were lost. Some were salvaged and fully restored. The water really fucked up Boscastle big time. We were there 2 years after the event and its all looking good now.
