TWO CAMERA ANGLES
Surveillance video surfaced of a Halloween brawl in a local restaurant that may have involved
Brigham Young University (BYU) football players among other combatants.
The violent melee involving about 12 individuals occurred about 3 am on November 1 at Racherito's restaurant in Provo. The video also shows a woman being punched in the face by a male offender.
According to the Provo Daily Herald, a police official has "confirmed ... that there were BYU players involved in an altercation and that they were in the process of making contact with the witnesses and all parties involved."
The Fox Salt Lake City affiliate reports that a witness, who apparently uploaded the YouTube videos of the brawl, claimed that "he and his friends went to Rancherito's after a Halloween party to grab a
bite to eat. They say another group threatened them, [his] group tried to make peace, but things escalated quickly."
The Salt Lake Tribune reported this morning that two BYU players who may or may not have been participants in the Halloween brawl have been suspended from the football program and have left the school: "On Thursday, BYU officials said senior safety Joe Sampson and sophomore linebacker Zac Stout had been suspended from the team for the remainder of the season for violating team rules, but provided no specifics. Both players have withdrawn from school. "Police have not confirmed whether Sampson or Stout are among the players under investigation."
