They in fact "don't care" why would they when they are not accountable?
So what they get sued, no big deal. They have an endless supply of unwitting tax slaves to pay their legal bills; to which, they can fleece en mass at will for any trumped up charge they decide.

An assault is carried out by a threat of bodily harm coupled with an apparent, present ability to cause the harm. It seems apparent that is what took place here. If the kid had jumped on the cop and threatened him with a taser would THAT be assault? I think we all know the answer to that.
