Syria: 15,000 mercenaries financed by money from the Afghan drug
To 20,000 mercenaries operating in Syria are funded with money from the Afghan drug trafficking, told reporters Thursday the director of the Russian Federal Drug Control Service (FDCS) Viktor Ivanov.
"Transnational criminal groups are able to fund with money from heroin influx of a large number of criminals and mercenaries from different countries to anywhere in the world. Between 15,000 and 20,000 mercenaries [funded by these means] are deployed in Syria, where they destabilize the country, "said the Russian official during a meeting with a delegation from the Pakistani Military University responsible for the development of bilateral cooperation in the field of drug control.
