Watch as these big C-130's line up in attack positions behind the spotter aircraft.Cockpit footage of fire retardant drops in an effort to aid in the fight against the Colorado wild fires. You won't get much closer to the inner workings of aerial firefighting than this, unless you join the Air National Guard.
The
Department of Defense provides firefighting support for the Colorado
Springs area. Members of the Wyoming Air National Guard from the 153rd
Airlift Wing, and airmen from the 302nd Airlift Wing at Peterson Air

Great footage. My thoughts are with everyone involved with this wildfire. In Oz we well know how devastating these wildfires (bushfires) can be. Best wishes to our American friends.

That there is what you call professionalism. The coordination and control is superb. Great flying as well. Those are big birds to be flying like that.

I am a pilot. I only have 5 ultimate dream flights.... This beast is one of them ! To sit in this cockpit and command this monster would be.... oh hell, i have no words to describe it. Jets are fun and all, but getting to fly this baby with those 4 monster props is TRUE flying. The power, the torque, the deep rumble through your whole body !! of course the "money-shot" of this dream would be that I am commanding the GUNSHIP VERSION !! America , FUCK YEAH !!

Great post. Thanks very much for letting us know what is actually happening in Colorado. I'm afraid with this heat, we will only have more problems coming up.

@Swamprunner It's true, I'm a bit worried. I actually have gotten acute bronchitis as a part of these damn fires. Not fun.

Saw one of these puppies being prepped at the Springs airport yesterday. Good luck to those folks, I hope the fires are all contained soon.

Modular? So the MAFFS can be rolled into any Hercules C-130? Ah, here I found it:
