News Conference: 45 Child Pornographers Caught in Polk County Florida

Polk County, Florida - It is being called the largest round-up of child pornography suspects in Polk County history. In fact Polk County Sheriff Grady Judd says it may be the largest of its kind in state history.
As of Thursday evening authorities had arrested 39 men and charged them with possession of child pornogrphy. Some of the men face up to 50 coun

Judd says they've issued warrants for 6 more men relating to their investigation which he called 'Operation Child Shield.'
Officials say they seized about 12,000 images during their 4 month long investigation. The sheriff says some of the images were pictures, while others were videos of up to 10 minutes long. But Judd added the items seized "are not just images of children without clothes." He says some videos show kids "being raped."
"If you aren't shocked by this conduct, if you aren't outraged by this conduct today as we all are, maybe you should consider counseling" Judd said.
The men come from all walks of life; one is a former Polk County Sheriff's deputy, one is a pilot and another is a retired school teacher.
The following people were arrested as a result of Operation Child Shield, an investigation by the Polk County Sheriff's Office:
* Jean Noe Antoine, 28, of 5150 Long Leg Circle, Apt. 208, Lakeland, was charged with 50 counts of possession of child pornography and one count of promotion of child pornography.
* Nathan Armstrong, 17, of 446 Elgin Blvd., Davenport, was charged with four counts of possession of child pornography and one count of promotion of child pornography.
* Jacob Bush, 61, of 284 Solivita Blvd., Davenport, was charged with 40 counts of possession of child pornography and one of count promotion of child pornography.
* Richard Crinton, 34, of 1042 S. Ohio Ave., Lakeland, was charged with 40 counts of possession of child pornography and one count of promotion of child pornography.
* Adrian Cruz, 37, of 381 Dundee Drive, Poinciana, was charged with 40 counts of possession of child pornography.
* Scott Fellows, 45, who is currently in the South County Jail, was charged with 40 counts possession of child pornography and 40 counts of sexual performance by a child. He had been booked into the jail on unrelated charges of custodial sexual battery.
* Michael Fradera, 31, of 3647 Victoria Manor Drive, Apt 109, Lakeland, was charged with 40 counts of possession of child pornography.
* Dennis Godfree, 63, of 189 Palm Drive, Mulberry, was charged with 50 counts of possession of child pornography.
* Elvis Gonzalez, 22, of 426 Nevada Loop Road, Davenport, was charged with 40 counts of possession of child pornography and one count of promotion of child pornography.
* Jeffery Halfacre Jr., 35, of 1608 Wayman St., Lakeland, was charged with 40 counts of possession of child pornography and one count of promotion of child pornography.
* Howard Hay, 47, of 2727 Woodstock Ave., Lakeland, was charged with 50 counts of possession of child pornography and one count of promotion of child pornography.
* Daniel Keath, 28, of 335 Lake Daisy Loop, Winter Haven, was charged with 50 counts of possession of child pornography and one count of promotion of child pornography.
* Timothy Keck, 27, of 6828 Scenic Hills Blvd., Lakeland, was charged with one count of possession of child pornography and 26 counts of distribution of obscene materials.
* Michael Killen, 22, of 615 Lime St., Auburndale, was charged with 20 counts of possession of child pornography and one count of promotion of child pornography.
* Dennis Laraby, 50, of 4 Bennett St., Haines City, was charged with 40 counts of possession of child pornography.
* Jason Lawrence, 17, of 2565 Shady Acres Drive, Mulberry, was charged with 40 counts of possession of child pornography and one count of promotion of child pornography.
* Brian McCarthy, 54, of 3793 Pioneer Trails Blvd., Lakeland, was charged with 40 counts of possession of child pornography and one count of promotion of child pornography.
* Ajay Mehta, 25, of 174 Lake Morton Drive, Apt. 50, Lakeland, was charged with 45 counts of possession of child pornography and one count of promotion of child pornography.
* Brian Ostrofsky, 40, of 1221 Thomasville Circle, Lakeland, was charged with 50 counts of possession of child pornography.
* Robert Pate, 44, of 151 Woodland Drive, Winter Haven, was charged with 50 counts of possession of child pornography and one count of promotion of child pornography.
* Lonnie Pittman, 26, of 2401 Laura St., Lake Wales, was charged with 40 counts possession of child pornography and one count promotion of child pornography.
* Rodney Rector, 47, of 857 County Road 547, Davenport, was charged with 40 counts of possession of child pornography and one count of promotion of child pornography.
* Cesar Reynoso, 43, of 534 N. Eagle Drive, Eagle Lake, was charged with 40 counts of possession of child pornography and one count of possession of child pornography.
* John Santos, 41, of 1055 Pinecrest Drive, Bartow, was charged with 40 counts of possession of child pornography.
* • Darren Shalley, 36, of 5947 Crane Drive, Lakeland, was charged with 40 counts of possession of child pornography and one count of promotion of child pornography.
* Daniel Sink, 58, of 163 Brett Court, Davenport, was charged with 40 counts of possession of child pornography.
* Charles Smith, 67, of 101 Thornhill Estate Drive, Winter Haven, was charged with 50 counts possession of child pornography and one count promotion of child pornography.
* Steve Smith, 54, of 260 W. Van Fleet Drive, Apt. 45, Bartow, was charged with 50 counts of possession of child pornography and one count of promotion of child pornography.
* David Soto, 23, of 1509 Richmond Road, Lakeland, was charged with 45 counts of possession of child pornography.
* Marcus Speed, 16, of 1330 E. Lemon St., Lakeland, was charged with 20 counts possession of child pornography and one count of promotion of child pornography.
* Cliff Stewart, 37, of 210 Dairy Road, Auburndale, was charged with one count possession of child pornography and one count promotion of child pornography.
* Roger Stump, 37, of 7 Ave. A N., Auburndale, was charged with 10 counts of possession of child pornography.
* Wesley Stump, 67, of 7 Ave. A N., Auburndale, was charged with 10 counts possession of child pornography.
* Charles Topping, 25, of 1713 Mahaffeey Circle, Lakeland, was charged with eight counts of possession of child pornography.
* Jorge Torres, 27, of 8492 Jamestown Drive, Winter Haven, was charged with 40 counts of possession of child pornography.
* Pedro Vazquez, 30, of 187 Crestwood Pass, Davenport, was charged with 10 counts of possession of child pornography and one count of promotion of child pornography.
* Anthony Walsh, 17, of 2473 Ave. A, S.W., Winter Haven, was charged with four counts of possession of child pornography.
* Eric Weaver, 39, of 1737 South Highland Park, Lake Wales, was charged with 40 counts of possession of child pornography.
* Wesley Whitmore, 37, of 5545 La Serena Ave., Lakeland, was charged with 40 counts of possession of child pornography.
The following child pornography suspects remain at large:
* Jean-Pierre Johnston, 49, of 310 Fitzgerald Road, Lakeland, was charged with 40 counts of possession of child pornography and one count of promotion of child pornography.
* Douglas Kulda, 23, of 1401 Ave. G, N.E., Winter Haven, was charged with 40 counts possession of child pornography and one count promotion of child pornography. He admitted to downloading pornography and child pornography.
* Scott Liberatore, 25, of 99 14th St., S.E., Winter Haven, was charged with 40 counts of possession of child pornography.
* Jose Ornelus, 23, of 335 Lake Daisy Loop, Winter Haven, was charged with 30 counts of possession of child pornography.
* David Soli, 40, of 310 Fitzgerald Road, Lakeland, was charged with 40 counts of possession of child pornography.
* Clarence Williams, 40, of 443 Red Hawk Loop, Winter Haven, was charged with 50 counts possession of child pornography and one count of promotion of child pornography.
The names of the 6 suspects still at-large are listed below:
Jean-Pierre Johnston - he is charged with 40 Counts of Possession of Child Pornography and 1 Count of Promotion of Child Pornography
David Soli - he is charged with 40 Counts of Possession
Douglas Kulda - he is charged with 40 Counts of Possession of Child Pornography and 1 Count of Promotion of Child Pornography
Clarence Williams - he is charged with 50 Counts of Possession of Child Pornography and 1 Count of Promotion of Child Pornography
Scott Liberatore - he is charged with 40 Counts of Possession of Child Pornography
Jose Ornelas - he is charged with 30 Counts of Possession of Child Pornography

These people were all ARRESTED. In an organized sting. They aren't arrested without evidence warranting an arrest. And given the nature of this kind of crime there is only one form of evidence and that is possession (aside from the people who are caught after being identified having sex with children on video or in photos). There is little room for ambiguity here. Unless some of them are going to argue that it wasn't there, someone else living with them must have put the child-porn on their computer, they don't have a defense.
They may have a defense. Unsecured wireless routers are great for getting stuff without any real fear of getting caught. Not that I've downloaded stuff from unsecured wireless routers, but I know about it. ;)
True, I'm sure that is a very common defense for people who have been caught downloading. "Ah geez, guess my wireless is not secured".
But I'm betting these people were caught with content physically on their computers.

I would like to hear more about how they go about finding these guys and knowing about them with out knowingly leaving kiddie porn up on the internet.
I often wonder just how heavily the net is monitored. I mean is the government just out there randomly scanning threw peoples computers? In the hopes that they might stumble on to these types? And how can they have that ability without also having the ability to insert files onto peoples computers?
If only they were this serious about catching the bastards that take the pictures and post them instead...Give 'em all a one way ticket to ride the lightning.
