  • This has been referred to as the silver bullet of reactor design. I'm not a physicist, so I'm not going to judge it. I've seen pro's and con's. I'm sure some of Obama's buddies are going to get rich over this, tho.

  • He skipped over a couple of tiny details.

First how do you get electricity out of the Thorium reactor? The answer is to use the reactor to heat highly pressurised water. You still have the problem of containing that.

The second problem is that the Thorium reactor is not a Thorium reactor. It's a U233 reactor that generates power solely from the the U233 but at the same time breeds more U233 from the Thorium. The problem is there is almost no U233 on the earth and it has to be bred in a Uranium More..

    • @DEADBEEF Dude, I think you need to check your facts, or you are thinking about something else. Thorium reactors have nothing in its chain that can be weaponized.

    • @zorro869

I have checked my sources. The fissile material is U233. Thorium is not fissile. Thorium can be converted into U233 by irradiation of neutrons,

U233 releases neutrons that convert Thorium into U233.

It's not a runaway reaction due to the half-life of U233 being quite long.

'Thorium reactors' depend totally on a percentage of U233 to generate fission energy while converting Thorium into U233 in a breeding process.

Look up the Thorium cycle to confirm what I say.

  • This is the problem with the green tard lunatics and their anti-nuclear scam.
There is other alternative nuclear power methods that do not have the risks of current reactors.
Yet they dismiss it in favour of their over priced useless solar scam and their breathing tax.

    • @DeathlyHallows Kirk talks about that in another video I saw. First of all, the Chinese are currently developing the LFTR technology. You can't judge something by the fact that people in power have not yet realized its potential and used it. There was also resistance against CHANGING the nuclear program as it was during the cold war, as the inventor of both types of reactor said that the first type was not good enough. They simply to him to get out of the nuclear game if he didn't like it. Now, More..

  • Sounds good. But the oil and fuel companies that own EVERY thing. Just will not this happen.
