NASA : AR1520's Parting Shot: July 19, 2012 M7.7 Flare.
Out of direct view but still active, sunspot 1520 has released an M7.7
class solar flare in the early hours of July 19, 2012. This video was
taken by the Solar Dynamics Observatory (SDO) and shows the flare in 304
and 335 wavelengths.

This imaging of the sun is truly amazing. I never thought we would be able to see features on the surface any more detailed than sun spot photos.
