Isaiah 61:1-3 The Spirit of the Lord GOD is upon me; because the LORD hath anointed me to preach good tidings unto the meek; he hath sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to them that are bound; To proclaim the acceptable year of the LORD, and the day of vengeance of our God; to comfort all that mourn; To appoint unto them that mourn in Zion, to give unto them beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness; that they might be called trees of righteousness, the planting of the LORD, that he might be glorified.

Christianity is not founded on scientific evidence alone. God did not give us our Messiah, his son Jesus Christ, so that he would be recognizable only to the scientific societies of the 19th and 20th century. It was his purpose that all, since the advent of Christ, might have a chance for salvation.

It was God’s purpose to raise up and to reveal his Messiah through the history of the Jewish people, and it is in that history and in the prophesies of the Old Testament that much of the evidence for the deity of Jesus Christ can be found.

The children of Israel were raised up for that purpose, so that through them Jesus Christ, the savior of the world might be revealed. The entire history of the Jews, everything they did, and everything they said either in obedience or in disobedience to god is ultimately either a direct or allegorical revelation of Jesus Christ.

God needed a blueprint, so to speak, by which his Messiah could be recognized against the discrediting efforts of Satan, whom God himself describes as "the sum of all wisdom".

Satan is very smart and will try to undermine and hijack everything God does to reveal himself to the world, hence the method which God finally chose to thwart those efforts by the tribe of Israel. Even so, the children of the devil, the Pharisees, accused Jesus as acting under the influence of the Devil.

Mt 12:24 But when the Pharisees heard it, they said, This fellow doth not cast out devils, but by Beelzebub the prince of the devils.

This, by the way, is "the unpardonable sin". The one thing God was trying to avoid was for Satan to find a way to turn the works of God against God.

Here we have the Jewish people who uphold their history as fact while rejecting the Messiah, but at the same time that same history reveals the Messiah.

We can look at the Old Testament and see Jesus everywhere in it, yet the Old Testament predates the advent of Christ by some 1700 years.

This serves as irrefutable historical and prophetic evidence for the legitimacy of the Messiah who then also raised up many witnesses to his death, miracles and resurrection in his day and also made many prophesies and spoke many truths that stand to this very day.

That's why the early church had so much faith. They so clearly recognized the signatures of God on our savior.

Forget about the scientific evidences, they are there, but the historical and prophetic evidences are convincing beyond a shadow of a doubt. The scientific evidences verifying the legitimacy of the accounts in the scriptures are just a bonus.

But, Satan nevertheless deceives the minds of the simple.
