"Real fights"? "On the streets"?
If you want to win competitions, sure, but reality isn't based on one-on-one fights, where ground-game is useless if another guy is there to kick your face in, and you need to even the odds in seconds, not minutes.

@Sephyrius
yes i agree, a lot of this was just great marketing. while jiu jitsu is great for one on one with no weapons, there are some real life self defense situations that jiu jitsu is not appropriate for, especially when dealing with someone who may have a knife or having to fight more than one person at once. this is why i dont believe other martial arts are inferior despite the success of bjj in mma. each art has its purpose.

I remember watching this video back in the early 90's. It was a brilliant marketing strategy for the Gracie's to promote their style of JuiJistu and their fledgling UFC as a platform to show off their techniques.
Good stuff.

Nice video.
That second Gracie fighter in the video is the legendary Rickson Gracie.
Narrated by Rorion Gracie.
I used to train at Torrance when Al Bundy (Ed O'Neill) was first starting. lol
I used to grapple with Royce. Pretty scrawny guy, but he was so skilled that he felt 10x stronger than he actually was.

I remember the first time that I stumbled upon a VHS of the first UFC fight in a video store in San Bernardino California about twenty years ago. Joyce Gracie, and the Gracie style of BJJ Blew my fucking mind! I kept going back to the video store waiting for a new one to come out.

cool story bro, maybe next time you could tell one where you are bragging about yourself in a completely pointless way.
I once saw a photo of royce gracie. my story is shorter and less contrived.
