@Phonocaster sometimes no seat belts is better than having them on. being ejected you may have a chance of survival, but sometimes when the car turns into an accordion the seat belt doesn't help at all. in fact, it may even be the death sentence since you're strapped in and can't do anything but get squashed.

Don't let the fact that man got up and walked away after that accident fool you into believing he survived.
Earlier in my life, i use to investigate traffic accidents, and you would be shocked to learn how many people die within 24-72 hours due to their brain swelling up from the impact. Many people feel perfectly fine and refuse to go to a hospital after surviving a car accident, and often we will have to explain to the family that their death may have been preventable had they accepted medic More..
