Fastest Pigeons I've ever seen.
 Part of channel(s): Liveleakers (promoted)

Driving to a meeting earlier today, I noticed a small pack of pigeons flying behind a semi truck.

By the time I got my BlackBerry camera up and running, they had changed course a bit.

I still caught a good clip of them flying along the highway. When I first noticed them, I was moving at about 100 km/h.

I didn't know that Pigeons could fly at that speed, so I found this to be real cool.

Cheers.

  • I was going to call BS, but like a good little LL'r did some homework.

"Their average flying speed over moderate distances (500 miles) is around 80 km/h (50 mph),[citation needed] but speeds of up to 177 km/h (110 mph) have been observed in top racers for short distance (100 miles)."

  • Might be racing pigeons, they are bred for speed.

  • So, it turns out that pigeons are adept aviators. I'm led to believe that they're quite good at navigating too. Today is full of surprises.

      Thanks buddy!

      +1

I was actually a bit slow on the camera work - they were literally 10 feet from a semi truck in front of me when I noticed them...

By the time I go the camera up and runnin - they were on the side of the highway...

      Cool none the less.
