Best I've seen so far, he may have added the likely Saudi/Israeli+little bit US assistance to to the at best Sunni/democracy fighters at worst Wahhabist foreign nutbags as a proxy war against Iran, but that does call for some conjecture. So as usual the Middle East has 2 menu choices shit sandwich or crap pie, bon appetite!

Excellent summary. This will not go down well with the GSD clowns who are paid to troll these forums.

Even you have to admit it's not an accurate assessment of Syria today. There's not even a single allusion to many of the undeniably heinous acts committed by some militia groups under the FSA banner over the past couple of months. Neither side has been playing by the rulebook for a long time.

Correct, but it is an attempt to cover the entire modern history of Syria in 4 minutes and I think he did a good job. Of course nobody should draw conclusions based on a 4 minute video summary. People need to read!

Crap history.
The Syrian civil war is mainly between the merchant classes - moderate Sunni, Christian, Alawite (most being Sunni) and Sunni peasants - most of whom are pretty fundamentalist.
Spurious remarks about State slaughter of protesters are simply an echo of fundamentalist propaganda.
Even mentioning the Russian 'Naval Base' shows his ignorance. Fifty staff and an offshore mooring do not a Naval Base make.

ya, the tlass family, the recently defected prime minister and the numerous army officers incuding generals are peasants....? i love how you generalize everything about this conflict.
there are way too many videos on youtube, UN reports, human rights NGO repots regarding the slaughter of protestors. the sooner you stop denying that the sooner you can come to sense with what's going on.
A naval base is a naval base, may it be 5000 people or 10 people, it is still russia's only spot More..

Generals? Do you know they are 'Brigadier Generals' and the rank is equivalent to Army majors or less in Western forces? Much like the terrorists who are in 'Brigades' yet number a handful of illiterate gunmen.

i know that defections from all ranks and levels have happened. was the prime minister the equivalent of an employee at the department of motor vehicles in the west?

In terms of Syrian political power, yes probably.
He is a figurehead at best and is appointed by the President based on tribal and religious grounds. Nothing whatsoever to do with merit. Everything to do with appeasing minority interests.

I see we have an entry that is not necessarily the news, also known as the "whitewashed version" for sanitized democratic eyes. Conveiniently it shows Syrian history up to about 3-4 months ago.How the western reports can still insist this is a completely pro- Democracy movement is puzzling? At it's core it's still a revolution but it's clearly taken a huge step into a sectarian war far beyond being just the citizens of Syria. I hate the fact that none of the ultra violent acts of th More..

Technically it is a democratic revolution. Democracies are based on majority rule and the majority of Syria wants change. Unfortunately the change is being funded and led by Wahhabi and other Sunni extremists.
Also, the piece is by a guy who needs Syria to fall in order to weaken Iran in order to strengthen Israel. A lot of your comments on his propaganda can be understood when understanding his religion and how Israel benefits if Assad falls.

I suppose the throat cutting, kidnapping a teen for ransom, flying bodies off a building from recent vids are unmentionable, as well. Assad is a piece of shit for what he's had his goons do to protestors & slaughters in areas like Houla, Homs & Tremseh. He's got more blood on his hands than anyone but don't act like the FSA isn't doing some depraved activities, as well.

you are right, I agree, the FSA are not shy when it comes to brutal acts but they will always pale in comparison to assad and what he orders...kidnapping is pussy shit compared to dropping a 1000 pound bomb on an inhabited city blocks...throwing dead shabiha off a roof is pussy shit compared to going house to house and murdering all military aged males...the FSA cannot lower itself to the brutality of assad but many of the FSA are just civs whose family has been killed and you More..
