I ride a motorcycle and IMO every move is my responsibility. If I'm overtaking a large slow moving vehicle on my right, I'm doing it at a reasonable speed and I'm paying attention to it, what might be in front of it, and everything else around me. Racing is for the race track.

Racing! If he/they had been riding 'normally' they would still be with us.

I share the same feeling mate! I know perfectly what are you talking about it! Got myself in a lot of close calls, "thanks" to some stupid idiot, who, instead of driving, he/she is on the friggin phone, eating and driving, etc, etc.
Not just here in the UK! If one day you got the chance to ride your bike in North-America (Mex and US) be very careful, way more idiots there!

Seeing as how are population is much larger than yours it goes without saying that there are going to be more idiots.

i get people cut'n me up all the time. few months ago i had i guy on the phone in front of me, he was in the left lane. as i went to go by him he pulled right over and hit me side on,the guy never even seen me and shit himself, i never came of the bike, the guy was in the wrong, i gestured to him to watch the road, he reply'd by giving me the finger, so i went after him and got right up beside him at a set of traffic lights and put my foot straight through his window and caught him square on the More..

Notice the speed of the bikes in relation to the traffic flow, yeah the guy in the van made a dopey turn but it happens, totally avoidable at a slower speed,,,, that being said the biker was only eighteen and as the song goes.." ,,,,when they said sit down I stood up,, oooh oooh I can't help it cause I'm growin uuuup",,,, RIP

I'm a bike rider as well, I concur that this was perhaps avoidable with a more circumspect riding style, but sometimes your number just comes up even when you are going slow. It is sad that this young guy didn't get to brush the dust off and ride another day. Condolences to his family and friends. Really.

99% of the time its the motorcyclist in the wrong. They know you don't get a 2nd chance riding a bike that way... yet the morons keep on doing it.

I won't say you are wrong, yeah, i know riders who are complete morons! No doubt! That's why i don't ride with them, especially in packs! If me and my mates want to race, i take any of my "babies" to the track so i can get my dose of adrenaline, but never, ever on the street, period! So i guess that leaves me in the 1% out of that list!

Crazy manouvre by the driver no matter what the motorcyclist was doing. That person will probably see many more accidents in their driving lifetime.

I used to ride both street and dirt. On the street I lived by the motto: Most drivers don't see you and the ones that do, don't like you.
I quit riding in LA years ago because, well, I don't need that feeling risk and I value my life.
