Aired for five seasons from 1973 to 1978 with 118 episodes. Kojak left an indelible imprint on our culture. Telly Savalas is such a badass. Give me one role you didn't like him in, no matter how crappy you thought a movie or TV show was, if Savalas was in it you know he's above criticism. Whether he was playing a tough guy in the El Sleazo bar in the Muppet movie, Big Joe in Kelly's Heroes, or Archer Maggot in The Dirty Dozen, he was always awesome. Do you realize how many different shows he guest starred on? I don't have space enough to list them all here. An American icon of TV and film and I think Kojak was the jewel on that crown.

The pilot movie for Kojak was inspired by the story of the Career Girls Murders. There were two made for TV Kojak movies in the 80's and five more in the late 80's early 90's on the ABC Mystery Movie. I'd recommend them all. They did a short lived revival of the show back in 05 without Savalas which was predictably unpopular, I mean how can you have Kojak without Savalas what the hell were they thinking?!

First commercial with Christopher Reeve is pre Superman 1974.

Sing along with Lou, funny, because Lou is too cool to sing along with you lol.

Beyond The Door TV spot. I first saw that movie with a friend as a kid, we used to watch every image of horrific debauchery we could lay our hands on and it all slid off us like water on a duck's back. But the visage of that floating woman stuck with me, still haunts me to this day. Movie was sort of a combination of Rosemary's Baby and the exorcist. With a twist.

  • Worthwhile project. Some of us have our projects that will get finished come Hell or high water.

Mine's currently stalled in Hell. :-(

    Bring back the Night Stalker.

Projects "Man High" and "Excelsior" are kind of cool as well. I'm currently stalled on "Project Mercury". 24 hours of material to review and try and make a video. You can probably guess the next two NASA projects that will follow.

Love that kind of stuff. I'll probably watch it all eventually now that I can find it easily. I only have so much time for LL these days and that's mostly taken up making that damn retro series. It'll take me a while but I'll get to watch them all. Thanks for taking the time to make them and uploading 'em!

  • Awesome stuff here!! The Kojak piece brings back a lot of great memories of my Dad. We used to watch it every week. He passed in 1979, not long after this show ended so we probably saw them all. And as you say, he was great in all of his roles. I really loved "The Dirty Dozen".

    Please keep posting these!!!

That's a great post man. Glad it brings back something for you.

My dad died a couple of years ago. We were both movie buffs. I have three brothers and two sisters, but Dad and I used to sneak away to the theater at least several times a year to see a flick, just us. Good times.
