@Witilza when your lane ends, it is up to the driver in that lane to merge with existing traffic in the continuing lanes. That driver should have accelerated, it is that persons fault, not the truck drivers. Merging should not affect the flow of other traffic.

@ddhh1 While the legal fault is definitely with the one merging into the truck's lane, the trucker was a long way from doing "everything correct".
Check out the speed indicator at the bottom. Right before the crash he goes from 81 to 83. He might not be at fault legally, but this was clearly avoidable and kind of a dick move.

Dude, the accelerator is on the right. I really hate such people. If you are afraid to drive a car on the highway, stay home or use the bus ...

The truck did have adequate time to pull out into the next lane.... the video proves that there was nothing stopping him as nothing passes in that lane....
Yes maybe the driver of the car should have accelerated into the gap as braking hard on a motorway slip road is not advisable.... In my experience, truck drivers do not like to give way to anything... not an easy call but I guess the car driver would be found to be totally at fault in the eyes of the law

@BazUK That's only about four or five seconds between the car appearing up the inside and cutting acreoss. You can't just swing a big truck out into the next lane like you can a car, these things have momentum.
If the car driver didn't want to accelerate, they ought to have run over the hatchings to their left (you are allowed to cross them in an emergency - and this was).
In reality, the car should never have been in that situation, ought to have slowed to pull in behind the truck (then o More..

@Guthrum tbh it looks like things got the better of the car driver.... probably young and inexperienced (which brings up the question why learners aren't taught to drive on motorways at some point after they have passed) but I'm sure the truck driver (being the more experienced) maybe could have read the situation better and moved over long before the crash happened.... but as I said.... technically the car drivers fault

@BazUK Indeed, a motorway lesson ought to be compulsory (I did one after passing my test and found it very useful). Dual carriageway A-roads are full speed, but often only two lane and lack a lot of the motorway features (including the length of time spent at sustained high speed), so not quite the same.

serves the twat right, should of built up sufficient speed instead of causing the lorry driver to either plow through him or slam his brakes on.

If you notice the driver at the 27 second mark is wearing a blue sports top with stripes down the sleeve., I'd say an inexperienced young driver with the way the driver was dressed not the OAP's.
