      East Germany was part of the Warsaw pact which consisted of:
      Soviet Union
      Albania (until 1968)
      Bulgaria
      Czechoslovakia
      East Germany (until 1990)
      Hungary
      Poland
      Romania


      The USSR consisted of a series of republics under soviet rule.
