An arrest that sent a suspect to a hospital was captured on camera, and neighbors said it is a clear-cut case of police brutality.Police said they are reviewing what really happened Friday when police arrested 23-year-old Timothy Greer on marijuana trafficking, criminal mischief and trespass.

Officers couldn't get Greer under control, and the situation became physical. Neighbors said the situation was too physical. One of them captured the situation on video.

"I just think it was excessive force. They just used their badge to their power,” said witness Donta Patton.

Patton posted the video online and said his friend was behind the camera when the incident unfolded on 10th Street in the heart of the Beecher Terrace public housing complex.

"They was stompin' him, punchin' him in his head, kicking him,” Patton said.

"They could have arrested him, but they didn't have to do him like that,” witness Brenda White said.

"They have a job to do, but wrong is wrong," Patton said.

The video clearly shows officers striking and kicking Greer and Greer refusing to put his hands behind his back and kicking and lunging as police tried to cuff him.

Only after backup arrived did officers get Greer under control.

White said she didn't see that.

But Patton said he could see it and that Greer was defending himself.

"He fought back. If you getting punched in your head and getting stomped on, you going try to defend yourself,” Patton said.

Police said Greer was treated and released from University Hospital.

He's now also facing a charge of resisting arrest.

Police said they have not received a formal complaint and said commanders will review the video and decide whether the arrest will be investigated.
