Shrek, these are companies that are contracted by the council, often the lowest costing bidder which means you get a lot of cut corners and 'incompetence' this shit also happens to people that pay for work themselves.
They have a business to run and have many thousands of clients like you, which means countless jobs on the go on any given day.
You've been inconvenienced, nothing more.
The point I was making; You have an electrician, a plumber, a plasterer and a new bathroom which would normal More..

@Spudmonkey
IIRC the council has to take the lowest bidder by law ?

@thegrimreaper Indeed. And the "office" usually consists of an 18 year old polish worker with a dixons pc, a phone/fax and the cut down version of Excel in works.

@ARNOLD-R-LANE Your suggestion could fit the job description well but, Dixons are purveyors of tacky/cheap PC's ala Best Buy / Circuit City (now dead RIP).
I like the pencil idea though:

You didn't realize that incompetent people end up in government jobs? The highest levels of government are filled with dead wood so I don't get why it surprises you that the lowest levels are filled semi-useless knobs.

What a pain. Too bad they didn't send ya the guy who just remodeled my kitchen. The old kitchen was entirely stripped out including the floor, lighting, and part of a wall. Our general contractor - himself, personally - tore out the old kitchen and the floor and wall, did all the electrical work and lighting installation, did all the tile on the counters and backsplash, installed the new floor, all sheetrock installation, all painting and finish carpentry, and all clean-up, including cleaning More..

---the lack of consideration from that office is echoed here---as my inconsiderate neighbor flushes her toilet---and gives me a 45c shower---

Thanks for the update. I really wasn't having a pop at you at all. Your 'yoursays' are one of the few that I actually find interesting.
I've never had any dealing with council 'office' staff that weren't incompetent.

Yeah i don't like incompetent people, especially when they call themselves 'professionals'. I just quit a job because the boss was incompetent. Hang in there and i hope your bathroom is fixed soon!

I used to work for Kier, managing the maintenance for 20,000 council houses in Islington.
The reason it didnt happen in a day is because the trades supervisor gets given a priority value from the main office, eg. the job must be done within 'x' period of time.
The supervisor then decides which jobs get done first, your shower problem seems to have been completed within a reasonable period of time taking into account what needed to be done.
The number of site visits can vary.
