    • @TEXAS HOLDEM123 As I said in a previous post, I think it's the exponential abuse of it in the last few years that leads people to attribute it to Obama, knowing that Obama didn't start it. You could blame the almost 3,800% increase from 2008 to 2011 on the recession, but you also need to look at what regulation have been eased since 2008 to allow that to happen. Then gentlemen in the video said that in recent years, the program has changed from land line phones to cell phones...

  • This is stupid. Where I volunteer we give away free cell phones but they are used phones donated to us and do not include a service plan. It's required that carriers continue to offer 911 service to a phone when the contract ends, so we give them the phone and it's good for one thing: calling 911. If they get back on their feet then they can sign up for regular service.

      What's stupid about the program is the phones come with 250 free minutes and when the recip uses that up they can just go get another with no consequence or responsibility. That's how homegirl got 30 phones. They all work, but why buy more minutes when you get another phone and 250 more free minutes?
